Okra, one of the most versatile plants in the vegetable garden. Okra pods can be fried , stewed with tomatoes and even pickled. The leaves are also edible both cooked and raw. The cooked leaves are a natural way to thicken soups and stews. The group up seeds can be used to fortify wheat read. For balcony gardens, grow in a pot 60cm in depth & diameter, or larger.

Growing Tips:


For best results plant the seeds in a well prepared bed, rich in organic compost. Due to their hard shell, they make take just a little bit longer to germinate. By keeping a regular watering cycle, you can ensure a good crop. Being consistent with water is key. It's important to know when okra is ready to pick. Once okra pods start growing, they grow quickly. Harvest okra pods when they are 7-10cm long.
